Ever have that feeling?
Something just feels natural. You can’t remember a time where it was hard for you?
Here is one I just discovered…
I got a text from my brother a couple nights ago. It read, “you remind me of hot lunches”. Now, this may surprise you, but I’ve never had anyone tell me that before! And I admit, I did pause for a just moment before embracing what I hoped was actually some sort of compliment…
He continued.
“When you were born, Mom stayed in the hospital for a few days. Normally, we walked home from grade school at noon to get a bologna sandwich. But with Mom in the hospital, Dad bought us tickets for hot school lunch.”
A little color here— I was born in Grand Forks, ND at the end of January and the high temperature for the day was 14-degrees.
For over fifty years, at least one of my siblings enjoys Tater Tot casserole, chili with cowboy bread, and mashed potatoes and Salisbury steak… and thinks of me. Awesome!
Anyway…
We all search for our place. To feel special. And sometimes, we make a difference without even knowing it.
My ask: Tell someone how they make a positive difference in your day –– the person next to you on the train, a co-worker, your sibling, your partner.
Connection feeds our soul… the more we share, the more we belong.
And when someone tells you how you’ve made a positive difference with them, own it! Heck, you were born for it!
Keep Believing in Better!
Made me smile as I read this. A genuine toothy smile. Thank you for the nudge I needed today!
